Louisiana might just be my favorite state.
There’s something about this place that feels different from the rest. Richer, deeper, almost cinematic. The landscapes alone are unforgettable, with its vast swamps and wetlands that seem to stretch endlessly, wrapped in silence and mystery.
One of the most impressive places we visited was Oak Alley Plantation. Walking up to the house, with its iconic line of oak trees, already felt surreal. Inside, we got a guided tour that gave a deeper look into its history. Beautiful, but also layered and confronting at times. It’s one of those places that stays with you.
We also made our way through Baton Rouge, where we stopped by the State Capitol, before continuing on to New Orleans. I had been there two years ago, and while the city is undeniably vibrant and unique, the intensity of the center can be quite overwhelming — especially if you stay for more than a day. This time, we explored a quieter side of the city, with beautiful parks and a more relaxed atmosphere, which gave me a completely different perspective.
Louisiana has an interesting contrast. It’s lively yet calm, beautiful yet heavy, energetic yet slow. And maybe that’s exactly why it left such a strong impression on me.
