While traveling always comes with a sense of unpredictability, today truly took it to another level.
Due to the ongoing government shutdown in the United States, there was a significant staff shortage at airport security including TSA. What followed was something I hadn’t quite experienced before: we stood in line for nearly four hours just to get through security. As you can imagine, we ended up missing our original flight.
Thankfully, not all was lost. We managed to secure seats on an Air France flight to Paris, and from there I’ll be making my way back to Amsterdam. So here I am now, somewhere above the clouds, reflecting on what has been quite an eventful day. At least I get to experience AirFrance, let's look at it optimistically. Perhaps I can share experiences on airlines & airline services as well ;)
Moments like these are exhausting, but they also add a certain story to your journey, the kind you’ll retell later with a mix of disbelief and laughter. Still, despite the chaos, it doesn’t take away from how deeply I’ve been enjoying this trip. In fact, quite the opposite.
Leaving the U.S. always brings a strange mix of emotions. There’s something about this country that continues to inspire me, and it never feels entirely easy to say goodbye. There’s a weight to it, a quiet sadness, but also a comforting belief that I’ll be back again soon.
Over the past two weeks, I’ve also been pouring a lot of energy into shaping Marca Network. Luminous Lounge is now set up in its foundation, and I’m excited to begin adding articles across different themes and categories. A space where ideas, inspiration, and creativity can truly come together.
I’ve also welcomed a wonderful new partner aligned with my offerings in fragrance and personal care. If you’re curious, definitely take a look at Fragrance Access, more to come on that soon.
For now, I’ll continue this journey home, carrying both the memories of this trip and the excitement for everything that’s ahead. Luminous Lounge will be filled with experiences and tips, mostly in the Places & Pleasures category. hope I can provide you with some relevant advice or just some inspiration. Much love.
