FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

What is the difference between perfume, eau de parfum and eau de toilette?

The main difference lies in the concentration of fragrance oils. Perfume (Parfum) contains the highest concentration, usually between 20% and 40%, making it the most intense and longest-lasting option. Eau de Parfum (EDP) typically contains 15% to 20% fragrance oils and offers an excellent balance between longevity and everyday wear. Eau de Toilette (EDT) contains around 5% to 15% fragrance oils, resulting in a lighter scent that often needs to be reapplied throughout the day.

How long does perfume last?

The longevity of a fragrance depends on several factors, including its concentration, ingredients, skin type and the environment. Fresh citrus fragrances generally evaporate more quickly than woody, oriental or gourmand fragrances. On average, an Eau de Parfum lasts between six and eight hours, while a perfume extract may last even longer.

Why does the same perfume smell different on different people?

Every person's skin chemistry is unique. Natural skin oils, body temperature, hydration and even diet can influence how a fragrance develops. This is why the same perfume may smell sweeter, fresher or warmer on someone else.

What are top, heart and base notes?

Perfumes develop in three stages.

Top notes are the first scents you notice immediately after application and usually disappear within 15 to 30 minutes.

Heart notes form the character of the fragrance and appear once the top notes fade.

Base notes develop last and provide depth, warmth and longevity. They remain noticeable for several hours.

How can I make my perfume last longer?

Moisturised skin helps perfume last longer. Applying an unscented body lotion before your fragrance can improve longevity. Layering products such as matching shower gels or body lotions may also enhance the overall scent experience.

Where should perfume be applied?

For the best performance, apply perfume to warm pulse points such as the wrists, neck, behind the ears and inside the elbows. Avoid rubbing your wrists together after application, as this may alter the fragrance's development.

How should perfume be stored?

Store perfume in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight, humidity and extreme temperature changes. Keeping fragrances in their original box can help protect them from light and preserve their quality for longer.

What is a signature fragrance?

A signature fragrance is a perfume that reflects your personality and becomes closely associated with you. Many people choose one fragrance for everyday wear, while others prefer different scents depending on the season, occasion or mood.

Which fragrance family suits me?

There is no single correct answer. Floral fragrances are often associated with elegance and romance, citrus fragrances with freshness and energy, woody fragrances with warmth and depth, while gourmand fragrances feature sweet notes such as vanilla, caramel or chocolate. Exploring different fragrance families is the best way to discover your personal preferences.

Can perfume expire?

Although perfume does not have a strict expiration date, its composition can gradually change over time. When stored correctly, many fragrances maintain their quality for three to five years or even longer. Changes in colour or scent may indicate that a perfume has started to oxidise.
